Features
Every download, accounted for.
Download Metric is built around three admin tabs and a download pop-up. Here’s what each one does.
01
Dashboard
Your downloads at a glance.
The Dashboard is where you add files and see how they’re doing. Drag its widgets into whatever order suits you.
- Today, This Week, This Month and All Time
- Most Downloaded and Top Files
- Recent Downloads as they happen
- Downloads by Country with flags
- Add files from the Media Library or by URL
03
File Analytics
Drill into a single file.
Pick a file to see its last 12 months as a bar chart, then open a country to chart just that country. Everything updates without reloading the page.
- 12-month download chart
- File size and date first listed
- Country breakdown with percentages
- Export the chart data to CSV
04
Download pop-up
A clean confirmation before each download.
Links made with the shortcode open a small pop-up on the current page showing the file name and version, so visitors know exactly what they’re getting.
- Download and Cancel side by side
- Closes with Esc or a click outside
- Button colours set from the Dashboard
- Keyboard friendly, with focus returned to the link

Shortcode
Put a tracked link anywhere.
Use the file’s number from the admin. The link it prints carries the file’s random token, never the number itself.
[sdt_download id="1" text="Download Now"]
Prints a link such as:
https://example.com/?sdt_download=6f3a9c1e84b27d05a1c4e9f2
And the small things that matter.
External storage
Track files hosted anywhere online, not just on your own server.
Accurate counts
For files on your own site, a download only counts once the file has actually been sent.
Publish when ready
Keep a file unpublished until release. Its link won’t work until you switch it on.
Safe updates
Updates arrive in your WordPress dashboard and keep all your existing logs.
See it on your own site.
Install Download Metric and add your first file in a couple of minutes.
