TechDirect Studio

Terms of Service

Last updated 2 October 2026

In short: you buy an annual licence for one website. It includes updates and support while it is active. Renewal may be automatic, and paid products come with a money-back guarantee where the product page says so.

1. Who we are

TechDirect Studio is a trading name of Scott Mollett, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean TechDirect Studio, and “you” means the person or business using our websites or products.

These terms apply when you use techdirectstudio.com and our product websites, download our free plugins, or buy a licence. Please read them before you buy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, and our Cookie Policy explains the cookies we use.

2. Our products

When you visit our websites

We make plugins for WordPress. Some are free, and some have a paid version (for example Trust Armory Pro) that adds extra features. Each product’s website describes what it does, what the free and paid versions include, and the current price.

Our plugins are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), like WordPress itself. When you buy a licence, you are paying for a licence key that unlocks the paid features on your website, plus updates and support while the licence is active.

3. Buying a licence

Payments are taken securely by Stripe. The price, currency and what is included are shown on the product page and at checkout before you pay. Your contract with us starts when your payment is confirmed. We then show you a download link and email you your purchase details.

At checkout we ask for the website domain the licence is for. Please make sure it is correct, because the licence key is tied to that domain.

4. Your licence

  • One licence, one website.

Each licence covers one website domain, unless the product page says otherwise (for example an Agency licence).

  • Annual term.

Licences last for one year from purchase, unless the product page says otherwise.

  • No automatic renewal.

We never charge you again without asking. Before your licence ends you can renew by buying again and entering your existing licence key at checkout.

  • If your licence ends.

The plugin keeps working. Paid-only features switch back to their free versions and updates stop, but your settings and data stay in place. Each product page explains exactly what happens.

  • Free trials.

Some products offer a free trial of their paid features, for the period shown in the plugin (7 days for PixEncoder Pro). A trial is for one website domain, and each domain can have one trial. No payment details are needed, and a trial never turns into a paid licence by itself. Starting a trial registers your website’s domain with us, as our Privacy Policy explains. When the trial ends, paid-only features switch back to their free versions, and your settings and data stay in place. We may extend or restart a trial if you ask us to, and we may end a trial that is being misused.

  • If we revoke your licence.

We may revoke a licence key if you receive a refund (including under our money-back guarantee); if a payment is reversed, charged back or not completed; if the key is shared, published, or used on a website other than the one it was issued for; or if you seriously break these terms. We will not revoke a valid, paid-for licence for any other reason. When a licence is revoked, the plugin removes the key from your website the next time it checks with our licence server and returns to its free version. Paid-only features stop and updates are no longer provided, but your settings and data stay in place. If you think a licence has been revoked by mistake, email us and we shall look into it straight away.

  • Moving to a different domain.

Email us and we shall help you move your licence.

5. Downloads and delivery

After you pay, you get a personal download link, which we also email to you. By default the link works for 7 days and for up to 5 downloads. Your licence key is emailed to you separately. If your link expires or you cannot find your key, email us and we shall send you a new one.

To activate a paid licence, your website must be able to connect to our licence server. If it cannot, the key will not activate until the connection works. The same applies to starting a free trial. The Test connection button in the plugin helps you check this.

6. Refunds and cancellations

  • Money-back guarantee.

Where a product page offers a money-back guarantee (i.e. Trust Armory Pro has a 30-day guarantee), email us within that period and we shall cancel the licence key and refund you in full, no questions asked.

  • Your legal right to cancel.

If you are a customer, UK law normally gives you 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content, but that right ends once the download has started with your agreement. Our money-back guarantee, where offered, gives you longer than this anyway.

If a product is faulty or not as described, you also have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

7. Updates and support

While your licence is active, updates are delivered through your WordPress dashboard, just like plugins from WordPress.org. Support is provided by email at support@techdirectstudio.com. We aim to reply within two working days, but we cannot guarantee a response time.

Free versions receive updates at our discretion and are supported as far as we reasonably can.

8. Your responsibilities

  • Keep backups of your website, and test updates on a staging copy where you can. Our tools help protect against failed updates, but no software can prevent every problem.

  • Some of our products help with legal requirements such as cookie consent and privacy policies. They are tools, not legal advice. You remain responsible for making sure your own website complies with the law.

  • Use our products lawfully and don not try to get around licence checks.

9. Our responsibility to you

We make and test our products carefully. If you are a customer, we may accept  responsibility for partial loss or damage suffered as a result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.

If you are buying for a business, we are not responsible for loss of profit, business, revenue or data, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to a business customer for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

10. Our websites

We try to keep our websites accurate and available, but we cannot promise they will always be error-free or online. Links to other websites are provided for convenience and we are not responsible for their content.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown when you bought a licence applies to that purchase. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a customer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please email us first – we shall always try to put it right.
