File download tracking for WordPress
Know exactly who downloads your files.
Download Metric turns any file, in your Media Library or on external storage, into a tracked download link. Every download is logged with its date, version and country, and reported in a clean dashboard inside WordPress.
The four counters at the top of your dashboard
Today
Downloads since midnight.
This Week
How the week is tracking.
This Month
Month-to-date totals.
All Time
Every download since you started.
How it works
From file to figures in four steps.
Add a file
Pick it from the Media Library or paste the URL of a file on external storage, and give it a version.
Share the link
Copy the tracked link or drop the shortcode into any page. Each link carries its own random token.
Visitor downloads
The download is logged with the date and time, the file version and the visitor’s country.
Read the numbers
Counters, top files, countries and a 12-month chart show up on your dashboard.

Can I track files that aren't in my Media Library?
Yes. Files can live on external online storage. Paste the file’s URL when you add it and Download Metric tracks the link.
Is country lookup free?
Yes. It uses the free ip-api.com service with no API key, and each IP address is cached for 30 days to keep lookups to a minimum.
Who can see the stats?
Only users who can manage the site. The download links themselves are public so visitors can use them.
Can I export the data?
Yes. The Download Logs tab exports to CSV, and File Analytics can export whatever its chart is showing.
Will I lose my logs when I update?
No. The database tables update automatically and existing download records are kept.

Download Metric is free and runs entirely inside WordPress.
